The dog days of summer have set in. We’re all looking forward to cooler temperatures, Fire Prevention Week and for many, a new fiscal year. To bring a little joy to your August, I present to you the latest news from Emergency Reporting.
Rig (Check) and Roll
It’s here! ER’s very own Rig Checks is up and running in the Maintenance Module. I encourage you to explore this mobile-friendly feature today. You can create unlimited line-items for any rig check form and easily apply any form to any apparatus.
Be sure to check out the “getting started” video here. Give it a try on your mobile device too… it’s super easy. Our responsive web design automatically scales Rig Checks based on the size of the device you’re using.
There’s also a new report to go along with Rig Checks: #1775 – Percentage of Rig Checks Passed or Failed per Apparatus.
And last but not least, completed Rig Checks automatically populate in the Daily Log with a unique activity code (no more having it tied to completed maintenance items). Keep in mind, for this to work you must set a default activity code for it in the Administration Module > Daily Log Settings > Default Activity Codes.
Daily Log Just Keeps Getting Better
With the addition of Rig Checks, did you know that there are now six (yes, six!) activities in ER that automatically populate in the Daily Log? Yep, here they are:
- Completed Incidents
- Completed Training Classes
- Completed Inspections
- Completed Events
- Completed Maintenance Items
- Completed Rig Checks
If you’re not taking advantage of the Daily Log, now’s the time take another look. Here’s a KBA to get you on the right path to documenting your busy shifts. One more tip: You can also view more than just one station’s Daily Log at a time if needed (good for battalion chiefs and administrators).
What’s in Your Compartment?
We added a new “compartment” column to Report #963 Equipment List for Assigned Apparatus for Category for Subcategory so you can more accurately manage your equipment on apparatus.
Combat Ready in the Data Trenches
If you’re new to ER or just want to expand your knowledge, be sure to join us for our first ever Summer Bootcamp that runs through September. This hourlong presentation is designed to solve unique organization challenges while adhering to industry standards like NFPA and ISO. Registration is free to ER customers and non-customers alike. Can’t attend live? We record them… Check out the recording of Week 1- PPE Management / NFPA 1851
That brings the August edition of UpdatER to a close. I hope you’ve had a memorable summer of 2019. Look for more exciting ER news coming in September. Until then, take care everyone and thank you for making ER part of your public safety success story.
