About Emergency Reporting
TopBackgrounder

Now more than ever, web-based reporting and records management makes sense!

Emergency Reporting (Reporting Systems, Inc.) is a privately held Washington State corporation established January 2003 as a result of a partnership between a GIS company, a web development company and a good idea.

Adrian Mintz (Owner of Summit GIS, a GIS consulting company) was faced with the demand for gathering EMS data within a multi-agency district. Instead of paying exuberant fees for services that would fall short, Adrian came up with the idea of creating a web-based solution to capture the data and provide the GIS reporting capability necessary. The idea sparked a meeting between his company and Dave Adams (Owner of Webefx, a web development company) to develop a web-based system that could be used for data collection and analysis. The web-based system would be easy-to-use and cost-effective.

Summit GIS handled the software architecture design; Webefx handled all programming and design. As a result of the partnership, the multi-district EMS agency received their software on-time and within budget.

It became evident a web-based reporting system that is simple to use for data entry and running reports was what most first responders wanted. Furthermore, they were very frustrated with their current fire software program.

In January 2003, Emergency Reporting was incorporated for the purpose of producing useful, easy to use web-based software and to provide the best customer service possible. At first, Emergency Reporting featured just NFIRS (National Fire Incident Reporting System), with limited EMS reporting capability. The system quickly expanded as clients demanded more capabilities.  Customer feedback continues to play an important role in the ongoing development of Emergency Reporting services.

In September 2003, Emergency Reporting made a major advancement with the system, which involved the integration of the NHTSA 2.0 (NEMSIS) dataset with the NFIRS data set. Emergency Reporting was the first in the country to offer web-based NFIRS and NEMSIS datasets fully integrated with modules for daily operations. The integration of the two national data set standards is a very important, because 70% of all fire department incidents are EMS related. This benefit remains a major differentiator between Emergency Reporting and traditional fire software companies. We delivered the NEMSIS reporting service to customers for no additional cost or effort on their part.

In August 2005, Emergency Reporting working with the CFAI, released VISION software. VISION risk assessment and accreditation software was developed to replace Rhave software.

In April 2006, Emergency Reporting became an approved vendor on the GSA Schedule under contract number GS-35F-0345S (Reporting Systems, Inc.). The GSA Schedule allows government entities to purchase Emergency Reporting services direct with no competitive bid.

In August 2006 Emergency Reporting was awarded NEMSIS Silver (currently Gold) Certification.  Our customers will receive all NEMSIS updates at no cost or effort. Contact Emergency Reporting to learn more about the NEMSIS data set standard and what it means to a department or agency collecting EMS data.

In January 2008, Emergency Reporting celebrated five years of business.  What started as a good idea has grown into a reporting and records management solution for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, NASA, airports, CDC, a nuclear power facility, ambulance services, hospitals, oil refineries and other agencies with first response capabilities world-wide.

Throughout 2008 and the first quarter of 2009 the economy is forcing everyone, including first response agencies, to evaluate what products and services are most important and which deliver the best "value" for the dollar invested. Our software model is proving to be of real value, especially in the areas of unlimited users per agency, training and support services, and savings from not having to maintain software and a network.

Emergency Reporting received the NEMSIS Gold Certification on July 27, 2009. The certification validates our solution as the only online system with NEMSIS Gold, NFIRS, Risk Assessment, all fully integrated (option) with 17 useful modules for daily operations.

Just two months after receiving NEMSIS Gold certification, Emergency Reporting was awarded the contract to support United States Marines Corp bases world-wide with fire, EMS and risk assessment reporting services. For more about this award - see full story. The contract further established Emergency Reporting as the leader for web-based reporting services.

Throughout the fourth quarter of 2009 and early 2010, Emergency Reporting further increased the customer base using an expanded team and proving to current customers, "now more than ever, web-based reporting makes sense."  Tough economic times force all of us to invest wisely in our operations, including hardware, software, technical personnel and even reporting systems. The web-based solution is arguably the most cost effective and powerful tool for records management.

TopWhy Emergency Reporting?

Emergency Reporting pioneered the development of a centralized web-based NFIRS, NEMSIS and risk assessment reporting and records management system. The solution supports fire rescue, EMS agencies, Navy, Marines, Army, nuclear power facilities, airports, ambulance services, hospitals, oil refineries, and multi-agency districts internationally.

Integrating the national fire and EMS dataset standards has proven helpful for first responders for many reasons, not the least of which is a centralized system saves time and money. A centralized system maintains data so duplicate reports and other functions do not need to be duplicated; first responders should not have to use multiple software programs to capture data and report.

Emergency Reporting is dedicated to developing useful and practical web applications designed to improve communications, data management, safety and overall knowledge for first responders.

As we add new features to the system, clients everywhere benefit immediately, without the need for downloading software, installing patches, or special training common with traditional software.

Your department or agency will benefit from Emergency Reporting for the following reasons:

1. Collect, review and manage data from anywhere via a standard web browser and the Internet. Authorized users can run reports, view incidents, and manage resources in real-time from remote locations or at the station 24/7.

2. Centralized database for NFIRS, NEMSIS, VISION and 17 support modules for daily operations and risk assessment.

3. Simple "point and click" data entry and data management interface makes the system easy to use.

4. Low monthly rate is based on the package ordered and the size of the department.

5. Unlimited authorized users may access all or selected parts of the system.

6. No software installation – "zero footprint."

7. Over 900 reports on-demand; free custom reports available by request.

8. "One-click" data exports in Access provide offline data backup and custom report writing options.

9. System software upgrades provide continual improvements at no additional cost or effort to the department or agency.

10. Fast activation process allows your department to be online reporting in a few days.

11. Scalable - The system supports a wide range of departments from small volunteer to metro; The free demo account will provide access to the best package for your department and requires no software installation.

12. Wireless Access - Web-based delivery provides wireless access from hardware operating an Internet Explorer web-browser and internet connection.

13. Reduces department hardware, software and support costs - The system reduces and even eliminates the costs normally paid by a department to manage hardware, software and networks necessary to run traditional "install" fire or EMS software. Department resources are better utilized!

14. Secure Data Center - The data center is built to exceed the most stringent requirements necessary to guarantee Internet and network operations. The data center is designed as a first-class, service-oriented facility with the in-house expertise to provide a refreshingly different approach to co-location.

15. Secure Data Transfer - The system utilizes 128-byte encryption with SSL, the same software used for encrypting sensitive VISA / MC cardholder data for ecommerce transactions.

16. HIPAA Compliant - Emergency Reporting meets HIPAA requirements regarding the use and storage of data concerning the records management system.

17. Software Escrow Account - Emergency Reporting can establish your department or agency as a beneficiary to our records management system source code, in the unlikely event the company fails to provide service.
